Allen F. Bouressa, 81, of Charlestown, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was born June 24, 1928 in Providence to Theresa R. Finnegan and Allen F. Bouressa. He lived in the Providence area for 43 years before moving to Narragansett, and then retiring in Charlestown, and Florida. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Phyllis Bouressa (Cerrito); a daughter, Donna M. Bouressa of Portsmouth; three sons, James F. Bouressa of St. Louis, MO, F. Allen Bouressa of Merrimack, N.H. and Donald A. Bouressa of Warwick; a brother, Rev. Donald J. Bouressa of Narragansett; seven grandchildren, Mandy Alberg, Mathew, David, Samantha, Ian, Nicholas, and Katherine Bouressa; and one great granddaughter, Kyla Alberg. Allen was a 1946 graduate of LaSalle Academy, and then founded and operated Bouressa Upholstery of Riverside, R.I. He proudly served in the US Army 43rd Division for 3 years in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He spent 27 years working as a cartographer for the U.S. Defense Mapping Agency, Army Corps of Engineers, during which time he participated in early computer science development program at Providence College (1966 - 1967). Allen actively engaged in post retirement activities including cooking, wood carving, and Tai Chi. He was a caring and generous man who was deeply loved by all whose lives he touched. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 10:00 AM in St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Rd., Charlestown. Visiting hours Tuesday 3-7 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Assoc.
