Alice Davidson

August 25, 1922 — April 23, 2025

Alice L. (King) Davidson, 102, of Emmett Lane in Cumberland, died April 23, 2025. She was the widow of the late Donald J. Davidson, to whom she was married for over 54 years. She was the daughter of the late Charles Lewis King, Sr. and Alice Pearl (Browning) King. She was the sister of the late Virginia K. Arnold of Usquepaug, the late Charles L. King, Jr. of Falls Church, VA, the late Eleanor M. King of Wakefield and the late Clifford F. King of Carolina, RI.


She leaves three sons, James B. Davidson of Charlton, MA, Richard A. Davidson of Rehoboth, MA, Dean S. Davidson of Rehoboth, MA, two daughters, Margery D. Jones of Cranston, RI and Barbara H. Casciano of Harding, NJ. She also leaves four granddaughters; Jennifer Limanek of Millbury, MA, Melissa Jones of Oak Ridge, NJ, Michaela Jones Cromartie of Cranston, RI and Alicia Casciano of Washington DC, three grandsons; Bradford Davidson of North Grosvenordale, CT, Austin Davidson of Rehoboth, MA and Thomas Davidson of Rehoboth, MA. Alice also leaves five great-grandchildren; Amiyah Cromartie, Bryce Davidson, Rylan Davidson, William Limanek and Ariya Limanek.


She began her working career at Holley’s, Inc. of Wakefield and worked as a secretary at the Advance Base Depot in Davisville during World War II. She worked briefly at Blue Cross and was a secretary-bookkeeper and office manager for the law firm of Haslam, Arnold & Sumpter in Providence. She also worked at the Town Clerk’s Office in Wakefield and at the Berkshire Life Insurance Co. in Providence.


After her marriage she worked for Coro Inc. and the law firm of Russell Plummer and Rutherford in Boston. She had lived in Arnold Mills in Cumberland for 58 years in a home she designed.


She was a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church of Cumberland, Primrose Grange, Providence County Pomona Grange, RI State Grange and National Grange, having served as Treasurer

of the former Cumberland Grange and as their pianist.


She was a member of the Blackstone Valley Historical Society, the North Attleboro Historical Society, “Community-ites” of Cumberland where she held the office of Historian, the “Lime Rockers” and a member and former President of the Chaminade Club of Providence.


She founded the Arnold Mills Craft Center (now under the name of Arnold Mills Community House). She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, singing, and enjoyed writing poetry.


She was a member and President of the former Octave Chorus in Attleboro, a former member of the Cumberland-Lincoln Community Chorus, the RI Civic Chorale and Orchestra, the RI Touring Ensemble and the Providence Opera Theatre chorus. Alice was also a former member of Encore of Lincoln and of the Greenville Goldenaires. Over the years she enjoyed singing in numerous church choirs. Alice was also a member of the North Attleboro Historical Society and the Blackstone Valley Historical Society, the Lime Rockers and the Pawtucket Chapter 1192 of the AARP.


Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 28th from 5 pm to 7pm in Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield, RI. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 29th at 10 am in Wakefield Baptist Church, 236 Main St, Wakefield, RI.


In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alice’s name to Wakefield Baptist Church, 236 Main St, Wakefield, RI 02879.
