Alfred W. Smith, Jr.

Alfred W. Smith Jr., 74, of Narragansett, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of the late Dolores (Sorel) Smith. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Alfred W. Smith Sr. and Susan (Mariani) Smith. Mr. Smith deeply loved his work and was the owner of Smith Interiors for many decades. He especially enjoyed designing, remodeling and restoring restaurants, homes and various businesses. While attending Central High School, he won a scholarship to attend Rhode Island School of Design, which he forfeited, because of family obligations. Mr. Smith very much loved and was committed to his family. He leaves a daughter, Cindy Smith, of Narragansett; a son, Alfred W. Smith III of West Palm Beach, FLA; brothers, William Smith of Greenville and George Smith of North Providence; a sister, Dorothy Leach of North Providence; and a grandson, Alfred W. Smith IV of Tampa, FLA. Mr. Smith also had many nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews, who he loved very much. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 6 p.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will be private.
