Alfred William Matteson, Sr.

Alfred W. Matteson Sr., of South Kingstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 8th surrounded by his family. He was the loving son of the late Frederick and Jennie (Arundale) Matteson and husband to Jean (Hopkins) Matteson.

Al was a man loved by many and certainly knew how to enjoy life. Some of his many hobbies include golfing with his sons and playing pool and Hi-Lo Jack at the Elks Lodge in South Kingstown where he was a long-time member. He was also an avid Red Sox and URI Rams fan.

Besides his wife, Al is survived by his children Kevin Matteson, Alfred Matteson Jr. (Gina), Kathy Garlick, Timothy Matteson, Steven Matteson (Kyle), Barry Matteson, Terrie Straight (Fred) and David Matteson (Suzanne), as well as 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his children Lorrie and Randy Matteson, his great-grandson Aiden Paul, as well as 7 brothers and 2 sisters. He also leaves behind his loving dog Pandy!

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 15th, 11:00 am at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home located at 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 14th from 4:00-7:00 pm. Burial will take place at New Fernwood Cemetery.
