Alfred C. Gomes, 72, of Broad St., Pawtucket, died Sunday. Born in Onset, MA, he was the son of the late Alfred C. Gomes Sr. and Mary L. (Coelho) Gomes. Mr. Gomes was a U.S Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and later a construction manager for many years before retiring. He was a graduate of La Salle Academy and was on the football team, also a graduate of U.R.I. He was an avid Red Sox and football fan and enjoyed traveling. He leaves two sisters, Marie Woodard of Wakefield and Cheryl Allard of Narragansett, his longtime companion Janice Fontes and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 AM in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St., Narragansett. Burial with military honors will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours Wednesday 6-8 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Disabled Veterans National Foundation, P.O. Box 96648, Washington, DC 20009.
