Alfred Gadrow

Alfred L. Gadrow, 92, passed away on Saturday May 5, 2012. He was the husband of the late Kathryn M. (Crandall) Gadrow for 59 years. He was later the companion of Janice Canerdy. Mr. Gadrow was born in South Kingstown on June 6, 1919. He graduated from RI State College and was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. After honorable discharge, he practiced accounting for over thirty years and during this time he taught business at the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Gadrow was also the treasurer of Thundermist Health Center for eighteen years. He was a charter member of the SK Elks and the Wakefield Rotary Club. Al loved golf, gardening, bridge and was an accomplished musician. He was an original member of the South County Slams. Mr. Gadrow is survived by a son, A. Victor Gadrow of South Kingstown; two daughters, Marialys Haywood of Breckenridge, CO and Joyce Aucoin of South Windsor, CT; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and a sister, Laura Girlycz of New Jersey. Visiting hours will be Monday 4-7 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Funeral service will be private.
