Alexander Salas

On Friday, April 12th, 2024, Alexander Salas, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, returned to his creator at the age of 77. Born to Antonio and Clementina on September 29, 1946, Alex was raised in Flushing, NY. He was a graduate of Hofstra University and received his Masters in Health Care Administration at Cornell University. He was a hospital administrator at Sloan Kettering Hospital for ten years and then Hartford Hospital for 32 years. He was a garden enthusiast. He loved being the life of the party and being surrounded by family and friends. In his lifetime, he accomplished many things, including: overcoming polio at a young age, serving his country honorably for two years in the United States Army, helping to start Super Systems (SSI), a family business with his late wife Mary Ann, and acquiring a beach home in Narragansett, RI, which has remained a family treasure to this day.

Alexander is survived by his significant other Enid Mecker, and children Alex Jr. (Crystal), Juliette (Jesse) Barber, and Jason (Aurora). He is also survived by his sister Teresa (Robert) Johnston, sister-in-law Cecelia (Michael) Freda, and brother-in-law Sanders (Martha) Reina. He was predeceased by his brother Camillo. He predeceases his seven grandchildren: Whitney, Landon, Julien, Marielle, Mikayla, Joshua, and Mia.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 5-8 pm in Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI 02879. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Alexander Salas on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at10 am, in St. Mary Star of the Sea, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett, RI 02882. The burial will follow at Riverbend Cemetery, 117 Beach Street, Westerly, RI 02891

Memorial donations in memory of Alexander Salas may be made to the Veteran Administration. Floral bouquets are welcome as well.
