Alexander Boyd Neill, Jr.

Alexander B. Neill, Jr. 73 of South Kingstown, RI passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Hope Hospice Center in Providence, RI surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pawtucket, RI he was the son of the late Alexander B Neill, Sr., and Jean Neill (Alice Hooper) of Wakefield, RI.

Alex greatest pleasure was being with his family. He particularly loved spending time at family gatherings at his parents home in Matunuck, RI. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, always enlightening us with his commentaries about the games.

After graduating from South Kingstown High School in 1970, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served from 1971-1975 as a medic at Andrews Air Force base during the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the Air Force he became a long-haul truck driver, retiring in 2005.

When he returned, he always had many humorous stories of the places he went and the people he met. His humor was with him.

Alex is survived by his children, Alexander B. Neill IV and his wife Tracy of Virginia, Matthew Neill and his wife, Beth of Arizona, Alicia Rodgers of Rhode Island, and Lorin Eslinger. of Maine. Alex was also a loving "POP" to his grandchildren, Private 1st Class (USMC) Gavin Neill of Camp Pendelton, CA, Ryder Neill, and Zurie Neill both of Idaho and Tyler Rodgers of Rhode Island and his former daughter-in-law, Leah Neill of Idaho. He was the loving brother of Cynthia J. Benson and Claudia May of Warwick, RI, and Andrew Neill of Matunuck, and his good friend Raymond Benson of West Kingston, RI with whom he shared great times with. Alex also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was always commenting on how proud he was and how much he loved his family. He is predeceased by his brothers, James Neill, and Rory M. Neill, both of Wakefield. RI.

Alex will be greatly missed by us all not only for his kindness to others and giving to those in need, but for his love of family and his country, America.

Visitation will be held on May 30th, 2024 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, 02879 . Burial with military honors will take place on May 31st, 2024, at 10:00 AM in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, 02822.
