Alan Gargle, 89, of New York City, died peacefully on July 6, 2018 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Brooklyn, New York on September 4, 1928, he was the son of the late Charles and Sallie (Gogolick) Gargle. Mr. Gargle was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He held an undergraduate degree from St. Johns College in Annapolis Maryland, and a masters degree in Drama from New York University. He had worked as an actor and also a television producer and director for all three major networks ABC, NBC and CBS. He managed the Election News Service for ABC News for the State of Florida during the 1966 and 1968 elections. Following that he worked in public relations. In the 1990s he opened an employment agency with his wife Martha which they ran for over 20 years. In addition to his work, Alan was a community activist in New York City responsible for saving a public park from development. He was also a defender of tenants rights in New York City. Mr. Gargle had been active in his school community as a member of the Board of Trustees at his alma mater, The Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School, where his daughter and grandson have attended. He is survived by Martha, his wife of 48 years, his daughter Tamar, son-in-law Thomas and grandson Cameron. A private burial service will be held in Kingston, RI followed by a memorial service in New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Michael J.
