Agnes Caetano Astley, born on August 15, 1932, in East Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, in Clearwater, Florida. She was 93 years old.
Agnes was a proud graduate of East Providence High School and went on to attend Barrington College, where she furthered her education with dedication and grace. Her early years in Rhode Island laid the foundation for a life marked by warmth, resilience, and devotion to those she loved.
She shared many cherished years with her late husband, John J. Astley. Together they built a family that became the center of Agnes's world. Her legacy continues through her children: John Astley and his wife Kathryn of Norfolk, Massachusetts; Karen Astley Moore and her husband James Moore of Palm Harbor, Florida; and Susan Astley Cass and her husband Oliver Cass of Leucadia, California.
Agnes was a beloved grandmother to seven grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren-with two more expected soon. She constantly asked about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always delighted to receive photos and videos of them. Her presence will be deeply missed at family gatherings where her love and laughter were always felt.
Throughout her life, Agnes found joy in simple pleasures that reflected her vibrant spirit. She had a deep love for gardening, tending to flowers and plants with care and patience. An avid tennis player in earlier years, she enjoyed the camaraderie. She also enjoyed playing bridge, a pastime that brought both challenge and connection with friends over the decades.
Above all else, Agnes treasured time spent with family. Whether hosting holidays or enjoying quiet moments together, she created lasting memories filled with warmth and affection.
