Littlefield, Agatha S, of West Kingston died on December 4, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivory Littlefield Jr., and is survived by her husband the Reverend John Crocker Jr. Born in Newport, Rhode Island on March 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Agatha S. Sheffield. A lifelong resident of Rhode Island, Agatha graduated from the Lincoln School in 1943 and from Smith College in 1947. During World War II Agatha contributed to the war effort by constructing torpedo fuses as a civilian worker at the Newport Torpedo Station. After marriage Agatha embarked on a career path of teaching and counseling unwed mothers, college students, hospice patients and other people in need. She returned to graduate school in her 40s to earn her Masters Degree in Counseling from Rhode Island College. Agatha dedicated herself to the care of the people in her life. This compassion extended beyond her children and stepchildren, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to many people outside of her family. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children Agatha (Kim) Littlefield and her partner Teri Dietrich of Versailles, Kentucky, Susan B. Littlefield VMD and her husband John Riemer of Exeter, Rhode Island, Ivory Littlefield and his wife Lisa Epstein of West Tisbury, Massachusetts, Richard B. Littlefield and his wife Heather of Sherborn, Massachusetts and Abigail P. Littlefield and her partner, Martha Wilmot of Putney, Vermont. Stepchildren John Crocker III and his partner Charlie Johnston of New York, NY, Norrie Crocker of Glasgow, Scotland, Matthew Crocker and his wife Susan Wilcox of Bernardston, Massachusetts. Nine grandchildren; Agatha, Elana, Maria, Whitman, Isabelle, Sam, Lucy, Hope and Eli and two great-grandchildren Faegan and Isaac. Brothers; William P. Sheffield (Pat) Kingston RI, Edwin S. Sheffield (Dottie), Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, and Richard B. Sheffield (Gay) of Middletown, Rhode Island. Relatives and friends are invited to share in a celebration of Agatha’s life on Friday December 11, 1pm at the Kingston Congregational Church, Kingston, Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Agatha may be made to the South Kingstown Land Trust and/or Odyssey Healthcare, Warwick RI office.
