A. Frances Knowles, 91, formerly of Narragansett, died Monday at Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Narragansett, she was a daughter of the late John F. and Agnes (Travers) Knowles. Miss Knowles was a bookkeeper for the Wakefield Branch Co., a secretary for The University of Rhode Island and Gordon Research Conferences before retiring. She was a member and past treasurer of St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, a member of the 1918 Club, Narragansett Seniors and OES Nestell Chapter # 6. She leaves her nephews, Harry R. Whaley and Karl R. Boldt; nieces, Jeanne Mason, Deborah Durfee, Carol Ferrer and Gail Bradley. She was sister of the late Mildred Whaley, Beatrice Boldt, Elizabeth Knowles and aunt of the late John K. and William I. Whaley. The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM in St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, 72 Central St., Narragansett. Visiting hours Friday 5-7 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield.
