A. David Hall, Jr., 78, of South Kingstown, passed away peacefully Tuesday February 9th, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Elsie (Chak) Hall for 53 years. Born in New London, CT, and raised in Norwich, CT, he was a son of the late Alton D. and Lillian (Dixon) Hall. Mr. Hall was a General Contractor until he retired to be Chief of the Union Fire District, a position he held for many years, retiring in 1992. He was a life member of the Snug Harbor Volunteer Fire Department, served as President of the Fireman’s Relief Fund, an active member of the South County Hospital Gym, and was a 25 year member of Christ the King Church. He enjoyed doing yardwork and riding his mower, tinkering with computers and technology, genealogy, woodworking and furniture making, and he loved watching his grandchildren competing in sporting events. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who always found a moment to share a smile, hug or joke. Besides his wife he leaves six children; Randy Harger of West Warwick, Kathleen Diodato (Jeffrey) of Norwich, CT, Shannon Walker (Dennis) of Coventry, CT; Alton Hall, III, (Karen) of Norwalk, CT, Hope Tyrrell (David) of Wakefield, and Brian Hall (Colleen) of North Kingstown; eight grandchildren, Christopher Diodato, Nicholas Diodato, Allison Hall, Timothy Hall, Samantha Tyrrell, Alton Hall, IV, Austin Hall, and Jacob Hall; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Delbert Hall and Barbara Guertin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Friday, 3-7 pm.
