William Alexander Gardner

June 5, 1926 — January 29, 2017

WILLIAM ALEXANDER GARDNER Beloved father & husband William Gardner, 90, passed away peacefully on January 29th at his home that he shared with wife Susan Parker Gardner in Westerly. He was the son of Mary and Alec Gardner of Scotland. Will enjoyed a full life with two wonderful wives and four loving children. He and his first wife, Nancy (deceased) spent many adventures together in travels and in business. After retiring from New England Telephone, they ran the “Ewe Awl” shop in Wickford, and then the Gardner B & B, Wakefield. Will was fortunate to have 45 loving years with Nancy and then 21 loving years with Susan, living mostly on Cape Cod. He leaves behind a cherished family: sister, Mabel Harrall (Ernie) and four children Greg (Lois), Leslie (Steve Beuth), Randy (Sandi), and Gary (Dee), along with 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and Sue’s four children (Scott, Adam, Dave, and Amy). He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Hutchins. On Saturday, May 27th at 11:00 AM a memorial service will be held at the Dunn’s Corner Community Church Presbyterian, Westerly, R.I. Will was a proud veteran, so in lieu of flowers, a charitable donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name would be greatly appreciated (PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675-8517) or Puppies Behind Bars (263 W. 38th St. 4th Floor, New York, NY 10018).
