It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Kay Newth Readyhough of Wakefield, Rhode Island. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kay's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, generosity, and kindness.
Born on January 31, 1931, Kay lived a life rich in experiences, and her legacy is woven into the hearts of those who knew her. She leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories that will forever be etched in the minds of her family and friends.
Kay is survived by her beloved children, each of whom carries on her spirit in their own unique ways: Jay Readyhough (Trish) of Narragansett, Rhode Island, Kimberly Gilbert (Jay) of Wakefield, Rhode Island, Marnee Grzebien (Tom) of Wakefield, Rhode Island, and St. Pete Beach, Florida, Mary Lee Blackwell (Lee) of Chester, Connecticut, and Heather Kane of Wilmot, New Hampshire. Kay is also survived by her sister Lee Roberts (Rod) of NH. She is predeceased by her sisters Marnee Gladding (Charles) and Carol Shortle (Richard.)
Her enduring love extends to fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, who were the joy and light of her later years. Kay's devotion to family was unwavering, and she found immense joy in the laughter and love shared among generations.
A graduate of Lincoln School in Rhode Island and Wheaton College in Massachusetts, Kay's life was a journey marked by resilience, warmth, and an indomitable spirit. She was a force to be reckoned with on the tennis court, a wonderful gardener and a stellar interior decorator with a love of travel. Her legacy lives on not only in the memories of those who knew her but also in the values she instilled in her family. Her home was a place of love, acceptance, and open arms, creating a refuge for all who entered.
A celebration of Kay's life will take place in the spring to honor the remarkable woman she was and the love she showered upon those fortunate enough to be part of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (StJude.org/givehope) in Kay's memory.
As we say goodbye to a matriarch whose kindness knew no bounds, may we find solace in the knowledge that Kay Newth Readyhough's spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love that she so generously shared during her time with us.
