Henry W. McGreen, 90, passed away, March 17, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Florence (Haxton) McGreen whom he married on May 18, 1953. He was the son of the late Dr. Thomas and Helen (Connery) McGreen. In addition to his wife, he is survived by nine children, Dr. Thomas H. McGreen and his wife Anna (Paliotta) McGreen of Narragansett, RI, Ann Marie Conway and her husband Charles Conway of Cranston, RI, Patricia (McGreen) Rheinberger and her husband Richard Rheinberger of Narragansett, RI, John V. McGreen and his wife Sharon (Delfino) McGreen of Narragansett, RI, MaryLin Berard and her husband Marc Berard of South Kingstown, RI, Ronald E. McGreen and his wife Katherine (Ford) McGreen of Narragansett, RI, Robert J. McGreen and his wife Patricia (Wegrzyn) McGreen of Warwick, RI, Michael W. McGreen of Miami, FL, and Joseph P. McGreen and his wife Mary Elizabeth Reilly-McGreen of South Kingstown, RI, 19 grandchildren, Erin Ribeiro, Charles Conway, Michaela Weldy, Brenna Sharpe, Sean Berard, Kyle Berard, Kevin McGreen, Brian McGreen, Alexandra Berard, Matthew McGreen, Victoria McGreen, Reilly McGreen, Emily McGreen, Henry McGreen, Colin McGreen, Brooke McGreen, Evan McGreen, Peter McGreen, John McGreen and six great-grandchildren, Parker, Griffin, and Noelle Weldy and Mischa, Ava, and Emma Sharpe. Mr. McGreen graduated from Hope High School, Providence, RI and Brown University, Class of 1950. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served for two years. After the war, he joined the U.S. Rubber Company and worked in its human resource department; later, he worked as a trust officer for Industrial National Bank. Mr. McGreen became an owner of Haxtons Tollgate Liquors, Inc. where he worked for fifty years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Newport Creamery Half Gallon Club and a board member of the RI Amateur Youth Hockey Association for a number of years. He was a member of Providence Boy Scout Troop 82 in which every member became an Eagle Scout. For years the troop had annual scout meetings until the passing of their scoutmaster. Mr. McGreens favorite activities were playing golf and going to the beach. He was a member of Point Judith Country Club and the Dunes Club and was a parishioner of St. Thomas More in Narragansett, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10 am in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland Street, Narragansett, RI. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Wednesday, March 21, 4-7 pm.
